today I saw...
a lady wearing kimono!
This is really quite rare as Japanese people only usually wear kimono for really formal occasions. This lady appeared to just be out shopping in the complete kit. She was an older lady, and her kimono had the shorter sleeves, but it was a dark plum colour with a subtle blossom pattern, and very light weight. She has geta sandals and tabi socks on and a parasol and looked stunning wandering down to the grocers. I'm afraid I was very rude and stared a good bit, bit so did the few other people around. She looked too fierce for me to ask if I could take a photo though. Down the raod a few metres was a kimono shop that I gawped through te window of until Andy dragged me away. I can't wait to see if I can learn more about the wonderful and subtle world of kimono symbology. And inro, they're pretty exquisite too.
