Welcome to Darkfox's Grand Day Out, a travel diary charting our Eurasian adventure.  Using the menu at the top you can read our travelog, look at pictures taken en route and leave messages for us.  Our originally planned route is illustrated here.

The trip is underway at last - having started from Stroud on 2nd April 2006.  The prime objective is to try and avoid flying wherever possible, and to spend our money where it will stay in the local economy rather than with multi-nationals.   We are travelling until our savings run out and hope this will be about a year; the general idea is to travel east on the Trans-Siberian and back west by retracing the silk roads through Central Asia.  Hopefully we'll be able to fit in a spot of R&R in South East Asia somewhere along the way.

We have spent some time with the Language Project at My Library in Laos.  Books are very rare in Laos, even in schools, but the thirst for education is immense.  If you would like to support this project, you can donate books through their Amazon Wishlist.

We are able to post updates whenever we get to an internet terminal, so please do check in regularly!
